“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve noticed a trend recently in a lot of TV programmes, to have a kind of droning foreground ‘music’ that almost drowns out the dialogue. Turning up the volume only makes it worse, and in the end, I have to resort to switching on the subtitles. Life can be very like that too. So many things clamour for our attention; news reports, concerns about work, health, family; all pushing in around us, and drowning out the one voice we really need to hear.
“A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.” Luke 8:43 (NLT)
This woman in Luke 8 had been to doctor after doctor. Some manuscripts say she had spent all her money on doctors. Now, here she was surrounded by masses of people, all pushing and shoving, to get a closer look at Jesus. Imagine the noise! She could have given up and gone away, thinking, maybe I’ll try another time. But she was single minded. Totally focused ~ on Jesus and nothing else. Her mind and her heart had tuned out the noise, and….. right there amidst the chaos she encountered Jesus!
Don’t be robbed by those things that daily demand your attention. Choose to focus on Jesus, and let Him restore to you the peace He has already given to you.

Amen!! We really have to be purposeful to shut all the noise of the world out, and focus on Jesus. But it’s so worth it!!

Wonderful post, Jill. The noise of life distracts us and our relationship with the Lord suffers because of it. We need to be “single-minded” and focused on growing in the Lord. Thanks for the reminder of something we all need, even retired bloggers like me! Blessings to you today.

Enjoyed reading this, such a good reminder to keep our focus on the Lord, and even in the middle of noise and chaos we can receive a healing touch from Him.

God definitely has us thinking the same thoughts! The idea of God’s peace being present with us in the midst of suffering, chaos, and overwhelm is a such a powerful promise. Thank you for sharing.

The peace and presence of the Lord has definitely been the much needed ‘theme’ of my life over the last few weeks and months. Where would we be without Him!? 🥰
