The Safest Place In The World

And so, dear brothers and sisters,I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”   Romans 12:1

I have a strong grip that comes in handy when I’m working in my workshop, but spiritually speaking, a strong grip is not always such a good thing. To be honest, I sometimes keep a grip on old hurts, not quite letting go, and sometimes I tend to cling tightly to yesterday’s blessings, forgetting that my faithful, loving Father has abundant blessings just waiting to lavish upon me today. What about you, how’s your grip?

Total Surrender:
Remember that old hymn “I surrender all”? The words are lovely, but in reality, no one truly surrenders all, at a given moment. Total surrender to God is a lifestyle. It’s a decision to ‘walk surrendered’.
On this side of Heaven, we will never be finished surrendering. Every day brings new opportunities to release our grip on those things, big and small, that we cling to, and offer our surrender to God. It’s the safest, most secure, and peace-filled place in the whole world to be!

  1. Jill,
Thank you for making this clearer to me. I remember sitting in church hearing about surrendering to God, and it seemed overwhelming to me–to surrender everything, all at once, for all time. I didn’t know how I could do that. I thought I wasn’t “spiritual” enough.

  2. Surrendered is our church’s theme for this year, and I’ve been so amazed at how God is weaving it into so many parts of my life. I love these observations!
