We’ve just come back from our walk with the dogs. As usual, I was looking out of the corner of my eye for something interesting to photograph with my phone – a bee or butterfly, an interesting looking flower. A dandelion at my feet caught my attention, mostly because half its fluffy seeds were, gone, as you can see from the photos. Didn’t you ever, as a child, like to carefully (so that the seeds didn’t fall off) pick a dandelion and blow the fluffy bits into the air, to make a wish?
The first thought that popped into my head was, “huh, if anyone wanted that one, that’s half of its ‘wishes’ gone.”
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, a puff of wind took the rest of the seeds clean off and just the bare stem stood there.
Wishes are Futile
Isn’t life so life that? The ‘wind’ picks up without warning – just like this current situation we find ourselves in – and we can find ourselves feeling stripped bare.
Wishes are futile. If you are a child of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, then YOUR life is built, not on wishes but on the solid hope of knowing that your life is anchored in Him. When the harsh winds of life come and blow away all your futile wishes, and other idols, Jesus remains, steadfast and unchanging.
Be blessed today, with His peace and His presence, and the knowledge that however strong the wind blows, your hope in Him can never be blown away.
