Close to You

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
‭‭ James 4:8

This invitation in the book of James is the greatest ever issued, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Just pause a moment and read the invitation again, slowly, letting each word sink in.

Almighty God, creator of the universe, longs and yearns for a heart-connection with you, with me.
Verse 5 tells us “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us” James 4:5

God loves you with such a passion that He cannot tolerate any other love in your heart that attempts to compete with your love for Him. (See Deuteronomy 32:16 and 32:21; Exodus 20:5 and 34:14; Zechariah 8:2).
God longs to be known by His children. His desire for you is relentless, unwavering.

Since the fall of man and our resulting separation from God, it took thousands of years and a massive price – God’s own Son – to reopen the way to this intimate fellowship with God.

No-one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in the closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”   John 1:18

Jesus came to make the Father known to us. Still, today, there are many of God’s children – Christians, who are missing out on that knowing Him part of the relationship. Yes, of course we have been forgiven and freed from sin, and that’s something to be celebrated, but it doesn’t end there! Jesus also came to reveal the Father to us, to make Him known to us. So that we could have a close, intimate heart-to-heart relationship with the Father, as Jesus has.

Have you accepted your invitation? It’s a daily one. An hourly one. An minute-by-minute, walking in step with His heartbeat.
