“With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:3-4
Strong Hands and Knees
The people were about to face something terrible, something that would be enough to make the hands of anyone weak, and the knees of the strongest feeble. But in light of the glorious restoration God promised to bring it was no time to be weak! God was telling them to get strong and get going!
Every single one of us, as Believers, has a role to play. We use our hands to work with, and if our hands are weak, we will not be as effective as we could be for Him.
Our knees are vital, both to make progress with and knees are symbolic of prayer. We need to have STRONG knees.
“Say to those with fearful hearts”
This is talking about the people of God who are afraid, not unbelievers. In trying times, it’s the strong hope of the LORD that we need, to overcome our fearful hearts, not a vague optimism that everything might work out; our hearts are helped by the ASSURED confidence that our Mighty God will come and save us.
Let’s strengthen ourselves in the Lord, so that we can encourage one another daily, through this strange time. Our God never changes, and His promises NEVER fail. HE is our hope and our strength.
