Fixing our eyes on our King

“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of POWER and LOVE and SELF-CONTROL.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Every time I open turn on the news, or open up a social media app, it’s “Coronavirus this, Coronavirus that.” I’m becoming weary seeing photos of empty shop shelves, and deserted, usually busy town streets. Every evening on our national news, they announce the latest death toll, due to this virus, and the rising number of people contracting it. The virus dominates conversations all over the entire world, causes divisions in communities, and generates fear.

If these news stories, and even facts about the virus, are ALL we are reading/looking at as Christians, our focus can very subtly start to slide away from the Lord our God, who is STILL King of kings and greater than any virus, and our hearts and minds will be totally consumed with, and focused upon the virus and the fear surrounding it.

Yes, it can be very scary….or, not. It’s really as simple as that. We can choose to fix our eyes on the virus, or, instead, on our Mighty God.

We are Jesus’ ambassadors. He has armed us with POWER, LOVE and SELF CONTROL. Yes, I know that the virus can be dangerous for some, but let’s not allow it to cause us to lose perspective or focus.

(But we do still need to wash our hands often 😀)
