Here, Now by Kate Merrick

I don’t want to give away too much about the content of this delightful book, because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I will say that if you’re feeling ‘overstretched’ and unfocused, I highly recommend this book for you. If you are struggling with grief over the loss of a loved one, or walking through the battle with cancer with a loved one, I would also recommend this beautiful book.

Kate shares, with exactly the right balance of depth and humour, on how, faced with what is probably every parent’s worst nightmare – her child’s battle with cancer – she is challenged on a personal level with regard to how we have become so consumed with Social Media and FOMO (fear of missing out) on life, that we forget to be ‘present’ in here and now, the life and precious moments God has placed us in. And as a result we so easily miss the beauty and blessings that are right in front of our eyes.

In her delightfully humorous way, Kate shows the reader how, in our search to become connected, we have become an over-connected, overstimulated world.

Her book inspires readers to disconnect from all that ‘stuff’ of life and reconnect with our creator God.

She shares her personal experiences of how the Lord taught her what is truly important, and how to quiet those distractions in today’s fast-paced way of life.

Kate’s writing style is light – like having tea with a friend – but the content has a depth that leaves the reader encouraged, challenged and motivated.

Thank you to BookLook Bloggers for my free copy of this book.

  1. Thanks for this review, I’m always looking for a good read. Halfway thru I logged into NYPL and placed a hold on the book!
Hopefully will pass on to my mom also, an avid reader who suffered greatly with the loss of my brother, her only son, to cancer.
    Thanks again Jill. 🌻🌼🌻

    1. Oh I’m so glad to know that the review is of value to you and your mum Lisa Beth. And I’m so sorry to know about your brother – I hate cancer! I hope this book will be as tremendous blessing to you both as it was to me. Jill 💕
