Every Day is A Gift!

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

This morning I looked out of the window at the grey sky and I have to admit, my heart sank. Then I went downstairs to make a cup of coffee and looked out of the window; the contrast of our peach and red coloured roses against the grey skies and sea looked so stunningly beautiful that I had to run back upstairs to get my camera and try to capture it, before the clouds broke.

Thats when I realised what I’d just said to myself: “before the clouds break”... they always do. Joy has nothing to do with outward circumstances.

What struck me most is that flowers just keep doing what God created them to do – bloom and be beautiful – no matter whether the sun is shining or the sky is grey.

I could learn a lesson from the flowers.

  Matthew 6:25-30:
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

I love getting together with friends and sharing with each other over a cup of coffee what God is doing in our lives, it boosts my faith and lifts my heart. That's the aim of this blog. There's a story behind it; It was inspired after a friend gave me a single mustard seed, saying ‘that’s all it takes Jill’. What my friend didn’t know was that the very same morning God had reminded me of a promise He'd made to me over 20 years before regarding writing. I took the mustard seed home, planted it and watched it grow from a tiny sapling to a large, flourishing shrub at our front door. Every time I look at it it reminds me that our God is always true to his promises. Jesus lives in and works through his people, every single day. It's good to share what he's doing! I love talking about Him and writing about Him.
