“But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly.”
Psalms 31:14-15 NLT
Trust: Dictionary definition- firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.synonyms:
confidence, belief, faith, freedom from suspicion/doubt, sureness, certainty, certitude, assurance, conviction, credence, reliance
Question: “Can I really trust God in every circumstance I face?”
Answer: Absolutely, Yes! I can trust Him because His care is constant: Psalms 121:2-4 “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Hebrews 13:6 "We say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"
God doesn't just gently 'suggest' that we trust him – he commands us, as his children, to be strong and courageous; to put our trust in him because he has promised that he will always be with us:
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9. What an encouraging command! We have The God of the angel armies walking by our side – going ahead of us, covering our back.
The One Who Trusts Him is Blessed
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!”(Psalms84:11-12)
The Bible is packed with stories of people who trusted God in the most stressful and frightening of circumstances – Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, who had the courage to take a stand for their faith. Because they trusted God, not a hair on their heads was singed as they were thrown into the furnace. Not only that, but Jesus himself stood with them in the furnace.
Daniel: Must have felt desperate and afraid as he was thrown to the lions for disobeying the king’s decree. Having lived in Africa and seen these incredible animals close up on safari from the safety of a land rover, I would not like to meet a lion face to face! God sent an angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt Daniel. Why? Because Daniel trusted in God.
“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
Psalms 9:9-10
God is totally trustworthy. Whatever you may be facing today, this week or this month – you are not alone. You can put your trust in God.
