For any that have been following my stories about my mustard plant, grown from one tiny seed, you’ll know that by now it’s a fairly decent sized plant and I’ve had to move it outside.
One would think this would be a happy day for the plant, what with Ireland being the land of perpetual rain. But, ironically, we haven’t had much rain lately and because the plant isn’t in my direct line of sight anymore, as it was on my kitchen window sill, I keep forgetting to go outside to water it.
I noticed this morning that it’s looking slightly wilted and had to rush out and give it some TLC. Already, just an hour later, the leaves have perked up and have lost their withered look.

How very like this our souls are! We were made for connection with God.
We need to connect with Him every day. Not out of a sense of misperceived religious duty, or feeling ‘I must’; But because He and He alone is the only one that can satisfy those deepest longings of our hearts.
David knew and expressed this longing and need for God so clearly when he was in the wilderness of Judah:
Psalm 63:1 ‭‭“O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.”

God promises to refresh us when we come to Him for refreshing.
John‬ ‭6:35‬ “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
John‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭“whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
‭‭“”Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
I love Isaiah‬ ‭55. If you have time, read through it to get the context. But here are just a few select verses, taken from the NLT
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭55:1-3, 10-11)

Our soul’s, like my mustard plant – like most plants – need to be frequently and prolifically watered, or they will shrivel, wither and become dry.
If you’re feeling parched today, drink deeply from the well of God’s Word. His Word will refresh you, cause you to grow and produce fruit.

I love getting together with friends and sharing with each other over a cup of coffee what God is doing in our lives, it boosts my faith and lifts my heart. That's the aim of this blog. There's a story behind it; It was inspired after a friend gave me a single mustard seed, saying ‘that’s all it takes Jill’. What my friend didn’t know was that the very same morning God had reminded me of a promise He'd made to me over 20 years before regarding writing. I took the mustard seed home, planted it and watched it grow from a tiny sapling to a large, flourishing shrub at our front door. Every time I look at it it reminds me that our God is always true to his promises. Jesus lives in and works through his people, every single day. It's good to share what he's doing! I love talking about Him and writing about Him.
